Jimsmith Lake Provincial Park is a popular outdoor recreation spot throughout the year. Visitors can swim, canoe, kayak, fish, toboggan, ice skate, cross-country ski and more. There is a campsite at the park but facilities are basic.
6 million baby trout are produced each year at the Kootenay Trout Hatchery. The Cutthroat, Rainbow, and Brook species of trout are all raised here, and this hatchery is the second largest in British Columbia.
Canoeing is available at Norbury Lake Provincial Park, and Norbury and Peckham Lakes have an abundance of rainbow trout. There are many walking trails, good beaches, and over 40 visitor campsites.
Fly-casting and trolling for trout is available at Moyie Lake Provincial Park. Boating, windsurfing and swimming are permitted, and an amphitheatre is located in the park. Vehicle and tent camping is offered, and a day use and picnic area is located here.
