Cranbrook is a bright and pleasant city located at the southern end of the Columbia Valley. The mountain peaks of the Kootenays form a stunning backdrop. The Canadian Museum of Rail Travel provides a fascinating look into the history of rail travel, and the nearby Fort Steele Heritage Park allows visitors to experience a taste of local frontier life. Moyie Lake Provincial Park offers boating, windsurfing, swimming and fishing, while Wasa Lake Provincial Park attracts both athletes and spectators to the festivities surrounding the Rocky Mountain Triathlon. Hockey fans can take in a WHL game at the Cranbrook Recreational Complex and cheer on the home team, Kootenay Ice, and golf enthusiasts will enjoy the area—s four 18 hole golf courses which include the St. Eugene Mission Golf Resort and the Cranbrook Golf Club. Cranbrook is situated in an ideal location for winter sports with three ski resorts nearby: Fernie, Panorama and Kimberley.
